The last several months have been something. If the holiday season and kids activities weren’t enough, I sold my house, moved to an apartment until my new house was finished being built, and moved again to the new house, all within the span of a few weeks. It may have been not too difficult for me if I didn’t always overestimate my ability to perform moves on my own and just spend the money to hire professional movers. But whenever I receive the quoted cost, I always feel guilty spending so much on something I know I can do myself (albeit at a steep tax to my energy in the short term when moving).
All that said, while we haven’t officially finished unpacking in the new home, we’re far along enough to where I feel I am able to occasionally catch my breath. Needless to say, my writing (and blogging) time has been extremely limited since late 2024. For my sanity and happiness, I did carve out some writing and ideation time for stories, but definitely let blogging fall off.
The excitement now turns to finish some projects around the new home to make it even better, including installing builtins for the living room and office/library. I did get a quote for how much it would cost professionals to do it; however, if you’ve read this long, I think you could probably guess who I ultimately decided who would be installing those builtins…
